30 magnetic tiles · 5 steps

A broad domed canopy, pointed umbrella edges and a little hooked handle

What pieces do you need?

  • ×18square tiles
  • ×4right triangle tiles
  • ×2short rectangle tiles (1 × 0.5)
  • ×6equilateral triangle tiles
Compare with your tile set

Choose the exact set to compare quantities. For other brands or mixed boxes, use each plan’s piece list.

Uses the tile shapes listed in the OugerToy 104 photo, with one kit per build. Colors can vary; check your actual tile dimensions and magnetic connections.

Raindrops fall and a big umbrella opens. Build its broad curved canopy, add the little edge points, then join the slim pole and hooked handle.

Before you build with real tiles

  • Adapted for the 104-piece kit. Lay every tile flat and look from above. Use the listed pieces for one picture, then return them before starting another.
  • Colors are illustrative; substitute any colors in your kit. Match the actual tile shapes and join their edges without overlapping or stretching them.

How to build it, step by step

  1. 1. Spread the broad umbrella edge

Add in this step: 7 square tiles

Join seven squares in a row, letting rainbow colors travel from one side to the other.

Hands-on tip: Keep every tile flat on the table. Match neighboring magnetic edges, leave the pictured gaps open and never stack faces. Colors can vary.

    1. Spread the broad umbrella edge
    Step 1 / 5
  2. 2. Curve the canopy inward

Add in this step: 5 square tiles · 2 right triangle tiles

Add five squares above the first row and a right triangle at each end, sloping inward toward the top.

Hands-on tip: Keep every tile flat on the table. Match neighboring magnetic edges, leave the pictured gaps open and never stack faces. Colors can vary.

    2. Curve the canopy inward
    Step 2 / 5
  3. 3. Close the rounded top

Add in this step: 3 square tiles · 2 right triangle tiles

Place three squares in the highest row with a right triangle at each side, closing the broad domed silhouette.

Hands-on tip: Keep every tile flat on the table. Match neighboring magnetic edges, leave the pictured gaps open and never stack faces. Colors can vary.

    3. Close the rounded top
    Step 3 / 5
  4. 4. Build the pole and hooked handle

Add in this step: 3 square tiles · 2 short rectangle tiles (1 × 0.5)

Join three squares downward from the canopy. Add one half-height short rectangle to the left of the lowest square. Turn a second short rectangle upright and join it above the left half of the first, leaving the hook open upward.

Hands-on tip: Keep every tile flat on the table. Match neighboring magnetic edges, leave the pictured gaps open and never stack faces. Colors can vary.

    4. Build the pole and hooked handle
    Step 4 / 5
  5. 5. Finish six downward umbrella points

Add in this step: 6 equilateral triangle tiles

Add three upside-down triangles on each side of the pole to make the umbrella edge where raindrops drip.

Hands-on tip: Keep every tile flat on the table. Match neighboring magnetic edges, leave the pictured gaps open and never stack faces. Colors can vary.

    5. Finish six downward umbrella points
    Step 5 / 5

A little help for grown-ups

You do not need to plan a lesson. Use these prompts when you reach a tricky step, or when your child wants to try an idea of their own.
